Summer of Colour Art Exhibition - 6 August 2016 to 29 August 2016

Art Source are exhibiting a quirky, fun and colourful art exhibition featuring the local Devon textile artist Jackie Gale and Cornish based painter Doug Hinge.

Jackie uses layers of fabric and embellishes her scenes using free motion embroidery. Her land and seascapes are inspired by the beaches and towns of the glorious southwest and in particular Devon where she lives.

Doug's paintings are full of humorous characters, boats and buildings in bright colours and seagulls with attitude. They all have a sense of fun and playfulness guaranteed to bring a smile to your face!

Martin Bush Exhibition Positive Path - 25 September 2015 to 11 October 2015

Martin describes, on reflection to what will be his biggest show of work to date, that he has always been drawn to give you the sense of a positive emotional experience.

This work certainly will dissolve any negativity you may have with over whelming colour and energy nothing quite like what we have seem him paint before.

His love of the abstract and artists such as Howard Hodgkin and Gerhard Richter have been inspirational in finding the freedom for Martin’s practice as an artist and how apt that we will be running our exhibition alongside the exhibition in Plymouths Museum and art gallery with a show of Gerhard Richter.

We hope you will come and compare!

Exhibition runs from Friday 25th Sept to Oct 11th
Private View evening; Thursday 24th Sept.
Open daily from 10am to 5pm

Venue; Art Source Gallery, Residence One, Royal William Yard, Plymouth PL1 3RP

Float canvas Framing

A stunning image by Johan Andersson. One of the youngest artist to have their work shown in the National Portrait Gallery London UK.
First stage was to stretch the rolled canvas onto a timber frame ready for framing
Then we created from M.D.F. a backing mount & a spaced 3″ front mount. It is the latter, that is spaced away from the image and raised, we then hand stippled both items in dark blue to highlight the eyes within the portrait, taking the viewer into the image.
Finally using a Larson Juhl Ferrosa Pewter moulding from Arqadia UK.
The result;- a wide frame with a step effect towards the image providing a feel of importance that the painting certainly deserves. Perhaps we can add a testimonial to this after our client has had a chance to hang the work.
